The New Testament Bay is illuminated by two great lights, that of the Incarnation and Birth of Christ and that of the Saving Death.  

The Fire from Heaven, symbolic of the Holy Spirit, penetrates the moon (symbolic of Mary) who consents with 'Be it done unto me according to your word.'  The great daisy symbolizes the human nature of Christ (the flower of the human race), while the Star of Bethlehem proclaims the Light of the World.  The latin words "Lumen Mundi" (Light of the World) - are found in the thin dark area protruding downwards from the great daisy.

The two green ships (symbolizing the calling of the apostles) drop their nets to catch the fish.  The purple rooster symbolizes man's denial of the light is turned back towards the darkness even as the fish are swimming in that direction.  The three yellows underneath the rooster symbolize the 3 times St. Peter denied knowing Jesus the Christ.

The Lamb was slain and yet lives, speaks of Redemption.  The Blood of the Lamb becomes the water of Baptism out of which grows the little daises. 

Christians who are to be flowers of the human race; become so through the 7 Sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist, Penance, Anointing of the Sick, (fka Extreme Unction) Holy Orders and Matrimony; depicted in the fifth and final window panel of this bay.

This section has to be looked at as a whole.

God Is Love and Love One Another can be easily seen in window columns 2 and 3.

This last section of windows has to be looked at like an old fashioned photography negative.  Images are seen in black.  With this in mind, look at window column four and a Hand can be seen.  It is the Hand of God.  Dark circles can be seen eminating from it.  The meaning of these eminating circles/waves is that all things leave from God and return back to Him.

Underneath the Hand, if one looks closely is the depiction of a family.  Two tall figures and at least one small one.

To the left of the hand and slightly lower in window column five a cross can be seen.  St. John's Gospel 3:16 "For God so loved the World, He gave His only Begotten Son, so that who so ever believed in Him would not perish but have Everlasting Life."  The Son of God gave up His Life so that we could have Eternal Life.

This wooden statue of Our Lady of Grace was given to the Parish by an anonymous donor when the New Church was dedicated in 1969.

It originally stood in the Chapel in an alcove converted from its original intention.

The original intention of this alcove by Father Witt was to be in commeration of the Apparition of Our Lady to Saint Bernadette in Lourdes, France.

When visits the small alcove in the Chapel you can see the nitch in the stone-work where a statue of Our Lady as 'Our Lady of Lourdes' was to be placed and St. Bernadette below and to the left in the opening.

Given in memory of Pietro and Angeline Ruozzo Pirone.  Pietro Pirone was principal founder and originator of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Celebration in Lowellville.

This is also one of the original statues made of wood brought into the New Church.  It is made to go along with the 'March of the Eucharist' large wooden plaque found in the Chapel where the Tabernacle of Our Lord is.

This is a second statue we have of Saint Anthony of Padua.  Miracle Worker.

The Baptismal Font. 

Is made of Travertine Marble from Italy as is the Altar and the Tabernacle.

This was done on purpose. 

For Baptism leads us to the Altar of the Lord and the Reception of His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Most Holy Eucharist which is reserved in the Tabernacle for Adoration and given to the home-bound.

There are three kinds of oils used in the Catholic Church:

These are specially consecrated by the Bishop at the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday.  The unused Holy Oils from the previous year are to be desposed of in a proper and respectful manner according to Church Law.

1. Holy Chrism: Sanctum Chrisma (S.C.)

ribbon color: Gold

2. Oil of the Sick: Oleum Infirmorum (O.I.)

ribbon color: Purple

3. Oil of Catechumens: Oleum Catechumenorum or Oleum Sanctum

(O. C. or O. S.) 

ribbon color: Green

The new Pascal Candle consecratred yearly at the Easter Vigil.

Original wooden Stations of the Cross; Stations 4 through 7.

Confessional is between Stations 6 and 7.

The wood seen is the same as all the wood in the New Church and is from South America.

This is a picture of the Altar taken during Advent.

It is of Travertine Marble as is the Baptismal Font and Tabernacle.

The Altar is a symbolic representation of Jesus Christ.

The design of the Altar was created by Father R. P. O'Donnell.

Since the Altar is a symbolic representation of Christ; It bares 4 crosses, seen here are Two; one in each corner.

The 4 crosses represent the 4 Holy Wounds of Christ; the Two in the Hands and the Two in the Feet.

The Ambo is the name of the 'podium' from which the Holy Gospel is proclaimed and the Old Testament and the Letters of St. Paul are read during Holy Mass.

According to Church Law; on every Altar or above is to be found a Crucifix to visually remind us of the Sacrifice that Jesus made for us.

This is not your typical Crucifix; this came with the New Church and represents 'Christ's Descent into Hell' as is proclaimed during the Nicene Creed at Sunday Mass:  "I believe in One God, Creator of Heaven and Earth...... 'He descended into Hell' on third day He rose from the dead....

The hell here referred to is not the 'hell' of the damned, but the 'hell' of the righteous awaiting His Salvic action.  CCC #633

When looking to the left and slightly down of the 'Descent into Hell' Crucifix.. one is able to distinguish faintly but so distinctly the image of Our Lady as depicted in Her Image on the Tilma of St. Juan Diego. (aka: Saint Juan Diego Cuauchtlatoatzin - name of the village from which he was from).

The wood from the New Church all came from South America.  A small blessing.  This is out of the natural grain of the wood and no alteration was made to it.

This blessing was only recently noticed by a parishoner.

This picture shows a better view of the marble supporting legs.

This is a picture of Saint Joseph the Just.

He is holding a level - the symbol of Him being a carpenter and a lily - the symbol of purity.

The Church has always taught that Mary was a Virgin before, during and after the birth of Jesus.  Therefore, the title (one of many) of 'the Just' is added.

At the upper right corner of the picture is the skylight/baldicino.  It was designed so the the light of the sun would shine through and light up the Altar.

Some churches have had in the past above the Altar what were called baldicinos.  The most famous one is the one by Bernini which is above the Altar of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. 

The roof with its center beam and supporting beams leading to it represent Christ (the center beam) and the 12 apostles (6 coming from each side to the middle).

Looking at the ceiling without the skylight; it resembles on purpose, the bottom of wooden ships and boats from days ago.  Ships and boats in the past were often referred to as 'barques' and the 'Church' is referred to sometimes as the 'barque of St. Peter', St. Peter was a fisherman; his fishing boat was his barque.  (pronounced 'bark')

So the intention is as you are looking up at it - try to imagine the church, the barque of St. Peter, this church also riding the blue sky towards Heaven.

This is the intention. This is the symbolism.

The windows on the East side of the Chruch are clear on purpose.  Christ is considered the 'Rising Sun', the 'Orient on high to greet us.'  

If possible, in the past churches and cemetaries faced East to greet the Christ when He returns in glory.

The larger chair is used by the presider/priest at Mass.

The smaller one is for the deacon assisting the priest.

Modern Catholic Dictionary:

CREDENCE TABLE. A small table or shelf in the wall at one side of the altar. On it are usually placed the cruets, basin, and finger towel. The chalice, paten, corporal, and veil used in the Mass may also be placed there until the Offertory of the Mass. (Etym. Latin credere, to believe.)

The House of Hansen

The Tabernacle was taken from the Old Church and refurbished to be in line with the design and architecture of the New.

The House of Hansen, D.B. Hansen and Sons were responsible for this task.

The casing covering the original tabernacle and pedestal are of Travertine Marble connecting on purpose it to the Altar and Baptismal Font.

The new doors of the Tabernacle have the design of the burning bush from the Old Testament to remind us that we are in the presence of God.  Book of Exodus: 3:1 - 4:17.  These enameled gates depicting the burning bush were furnished by Pat White Associates of Canton, Oh.

There are 12 hanging lamps around the Tabernacle, 6 along the wall and 6 hanging in front; which refer to the 12 apostles or the 12 tribes of Israel.

The cross above the Tabernacle is the Cross of San Damiano. 

The Cross of San Damiano is the cross in San Damiano, Italy from which Saint Francis of Assisi heard the Voice of Jesus to say: "Francis, My Church is in ruins, go and rebuild My Church."  The Church Universal was in a time of great chaos, corruption and ruin, and the Church locally there of San Damiano where Saint Francis was in ruins, literally.

The 12 Apostles: 

Sts. Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew (Nathaniel), Matthew, Thomas, James the Less, Jude Thaddeus, Simon the Zealot and Matthias.

The 12 tribes of Israel:

Rueben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulon, Dan, Nephtali, Gad, Asher, Joseph and Benjamin.

This is the original statue of Saint Anthony of Padua that was in the Old Church.

The theme of the Diocese of Youngstown since its inception in 195   has been: 'The March of the Eucharist'

All the saints in the plaque have their bodies and gestures aimed toward the Tabernacle and Our Lord's Presence there, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.  This was all planned on purpose this way by Father Witt and the carvers of this wall plaque.
